Day 84 of lockdown – Mandala 84

22nd June
Good morning!
Have you ever played the game of Scrabble? For those who have never played it, I will try to explain it in short. It’s a board game in which you create words on a chequerboard using 7 alphabetical letters that you draw from a bag. If you can use all 7 letters to create words, you get bonus marks. Subsequent players have to make use of the words already existent on the board to create new words.
During my chemo days, we used to play Scrabble very often. Once , when the game was in progress for some time, I drew 7 letters and found that they were all vowels. .
If you have played Scrabble, you know how difficult it can be to use all 7 vowels , so I was about to give up; but then thought, “Let me at least give it a try “….so I started working out where I could use these 7 vowels; and to my surprise, within a very short span of time, I could use all 7 of them ! I was pleasantly surprised and realised that this happened because I didn’t give up on the task. Once I decided to pursue it, I found ways of doing it, though this was not a normal scenario.
A similar thing happened a couple of days later, but this time I drew 7 consonants and not a single vowel. A very difficult task again, but the earlier experience was etched in my mind, so once again I tried to formulate words with these 7 consonants ( of course, using the words on the board ) ; and this time too, I succeeded in using all 7 letters !
What did I learn from this ?…. That if I am open to giving my best in a difficult situation, I can succeed even if the odds are against me !
After all, Life is like a game, isn’t it ? We are dealt some cards, we can’t change them; so the only thing in our hands is to make the best use of the available cards. And if I am open to explore new possibilities, then I can use my hidden potentials and create new opportunities for myself !
Does all this remind you of our present situation ?
Love,
