Day 51 of lockdown – Mandala 51

Good morning!
I came across a quote today which set me thinking. The quote says, ” *Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it.*” Isn’t this absolutely true ? As doctors, we come across such situations very often. For one person, the diagnosis of diabetes may seem like losing all the pleasures in life and he can go into severe depression. But for someone else, the same diagnosis can be a Life-changer, leading to a healthy lifestyle with good food, exercise and relaxation/ meditation incorporated on a regular basis in daily life and subsequently he leads a happy, fulfilled Life.
As we both have been working with JDF, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation which works with Type 1 diabetics, we see many examples of the second type routinely. Though these kids and young adults have to routinely take 3 to 4 insulin injections every day, check their sugars 3 to 4 times a day ; they take this in their stride , excel in various fields and in general, enjoy Life.

These JDs ( as we call them ) do NOT react to their diagnosis negatively, but take the necessary action to stay Healthy.

Don’t you think that the same principle applies to the current Pandemic ? We can either choose to look at it as the greatest misfortune that has befallen us ( and remain depressed ) or we can rise above the challenge like a Phoenix and steer our lives ( and eventually, our home, the Earth ) in a better direction !
It’s just a question of how you look at it…as a problem or as an opportunity !
So, how are you looking at the current Pandemic ?
Love,
